The more physically active seniors are, the lower their risk of injury, disability and even death, according to a
report by
Reuters Health published on MedlinePlus. The study, which tracked over 1,000 seniors aged 50 – 100 revealed that for every hour of physical activity, the risk of disability was reduced by 7% and actually reduced the risk of death over the next several years by 11%.
Staying physically active through walking or other exercise program only makes sense. Fortunately it’s easy to do. AARP.org offers free programs and information on their website about walking, sports, working out and even staying motivated.
Paige Waehner, About.com’s Guide to Exercise has a page that has information on both why you should exercise, and how to get it done.
