Referring to a 1983 Harvard study of Transcendental Meditation, NRTA, an educational arm of AARP, explains meditation may be of real benefit for seniors in an article called Staying Sharp: Meditation - Not Just for Yogis.

The article describes some of the potential benefits and explains that meditation doesn’t have to be associated with any particular spiritual path. Indeed, it can be practiced by anyone, and simple directions are included.

In a sidebar, there are links taking you to additional resources.
